HMR Leather

There are four types of leather qualities.

From best to worst, these are: full grain, top grain, genuine, and bonded leather. Full-grain is the strongest, most durable, finest quality grade of leather available.

At HammerAwl we only work with full grain leather!

What's full-grain?

This leather comes from the top part of the hide, and has not been sanded, buffed or snuffed, as opposed to other leathers, or "genuine leather".

Take me there!

Why is it special?

Full-grain leather displays the natural characteristics of leather including small imperfections such as pores, wrinkles, and scars. Since it is more breathable than other leathers, it has a soft, natural look and warm feel.

How is it tanned?

Our leathers are semi-vegetable tanned, at an environmentally certified tannery, so that they will age better. Vegetable tanned, full-grain leather develops a rich patina over time, evolving with you, recording your experiences on its surface, telling your story.
